Georga Mission Trip Part 2

God is working this week and we have seen another person saved! One of the ladies in in the community accepted Christ yesterday. Pray for Mr. Cole, who lives near the church. He does not know Christ and is not willing to talk about his relationship with God right now, but many team members have been building a relationship with him and hope he will at least listen before we leave.

Today the coaches will share the plan of salvation with the children and tonight Bro. David will use illusions to share with their families. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will speak to hearts and the people will be willing to listen and accept Christ.

We have had one ER trip and three trips to the clinic this week. One of the ladies cut her finger in the kitchen, our camp nurse had an allergic reaction, Sawyer has a sinus infection and Jasper has an ear infection (he had a shot yesterday and has to go back for another today). Brantley got a small piece of metal in his eye that was removed in the ER last night. So the trip continues to be an adventure!

The Mize bus is supposed to be ready today so we should be able to leave in the morning as scheduled. We will stop in Atlanta at the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coke on the way home.

Please pray for a uneventful trip home and for the health and safety of the team!

You can tell by the length of the blog that this is Marsha filling in for Dave again! He is gone to find a replacement window pane broken in a mystery accident.

Praise God and continue praying for us!

Marsha

Georgia Mission Trip

This is Marsha Hays, blogging for Pastor Dave this morning. We are currently in Morganton, GA on a mission trip. The trip up was adventurous for the rest of the group. We left later so Dave could attend the funeral of his best friend's dad. First, the Mize bus ran out of gas due to a broken gauge. Shortly after, the same bus threw a belt. Although the group left at 6 am and we left at 12 pm, we caught up with the hot crew on the side of the road about an hour from our destination.

God provided a Christian mechanic who stopped on the roadside and assisted our group. His church bus came and picked up our crew and trailer, then he invited the Mize driver, Joey Adcock to stay in his home as the two worked on the bus. They were able to repair the belt, but the air conditioning compressor also went out, so the bus is currently in a repair shop in a nearby town. Pray that it will be ready by Friday for the trip home!

The last two days our team has led Upwards basketball, football, and cheerleading camps in order to share the gospel with the children in our area. Many of our 60 member team have been coaches, while others cooked and performed servant evangelism. Dave has spent much of his time running errands and overseeing the details. I have spent most of my time watching Sawyer and keeping an eye on the other children as they played between activities.

We are staying in Morganton Baptist Church, which is in an old school. We have 2 showers among 60 people, but the kids had a bath in a little pool with a hoola hoop shower curtain last night! They loved it and finally got clean for a little while!

Brantley and Britt spend most of their day coaching basketball and football during the day, then playing basketball with the team teenagers and adults on the trip in the evenings. They are doing a great job!

Praise God for one profession of faith among our team last night. Each evening we have team worship in the sanctuary. Last night Adam Hughes accepted Christ.

Please pray that more children will come to the camps each day. Also pray that Pastor Dave will get some rest--he is having trouble sleeping on the air mattress! Pray that those involved in servant evangelism will have more ways to minister and know the value of their part of the team. Pray for strength for all team members and that we will persevere despite the attacks of satan on this trip!

More later!

Filling in for my wonderful, busy husband,
Marsha Hays
